Beijing Free n Easy Itinerary (June 2011)

Hi, here are my Beijing trip itinerary for sharing. Any comments and suggestion are most welcome. Transportation in Beijing are very convenience. Almost all the attractions we covered are through public transportation except Great Wall and Ming Tombs. To me, I am not really used to the food here and in Beijing, you hardly get coffee which is my favorite......

Day 1 Itinerary

We departed from LCCT Airport KL on (D1) 4th June 2011 @ 8.30am and landed at Tianjin Binhai Airport @ 2.35pm. We took bus outside the Tianjin Airport proceed to Tianjin Train station. Then, we took 4.45pm bullet train (CNY58) and get off at Beijing South Station (30 mins)


From Beijing South Station, we took a taxi to King's Joy Hotel which located at Meishijie 煤市街, near Qianmen. This hotel is well located, walking distance to subway station, Qianmen, Tiananmen Square, Tiananmen, Forbidden City and Jingshan Park. Step out from hotel (left) is the Dazhalan Street. We shop around at Dazhalan Street in the evening and enjoy the night scene of Qianmen.

Recommended cheap and tasty Beijing duck nearby hotel, name 前门熟食店, even the out look of the store doesn't looks good, but the beijing duck is really tasty.



























Day 2 Itinerary (walking distance)

From Hotel, walk through the end of Dazhalan Street and turn into Qianmen Street. As you go on, there are Qianmen, Tiananmen Square, Tiananmen (CNY40) and Forbidden City (Entrance from Wumen午门-CNY60) we rent audio guide device which explained the history/structure of Forbidden City (CNY10 with Deposit RMB 100- refundable).



















Recommended Restaurant: Before enter into the Forbidden City,Wumen entrance, lunch at 太庙鑫溢宫 Reastaurant (cost us(4) CNY 112)



















End you journey at North gate of Forbidden City , Jingshan Park (CNY2) is just opposite the gate. Jingshan Park offers spectacular views looking down onto the northern gate of the Forbidden City from the hilltop. We took a taxi back to hotel around 6pm .
































At Night, we took a taxi to Donghuamen Night market, next to Wangfujing Street and had our dinner (for 4) at Quanjude Restaurant, cost CNY433 and shop around at Wangfujing. Back to hotel via taxi too.















Day 3 Itinerary

In my initial itinerary, we plan to take bus going to Ming Tombs(50km) and Badaling Great Wall (80Km), but I know it will be lots of hassle.
But, so lucky that as we walk out from the hotel, we met a driver out there waiting for guest going to Ming Tombs and Mutianyu Great wall. Instead of ask for direction, we finally joined them @ RMB 150 inclusive Great Wall entrance fee (CNY40)+ lunch.






















At Mutianyu Great Wall, you can either choose to walk up to the top of Great Wall or take the cable car. We took the cable car- return @CNY65, we actually plan to go down by the Toboggan, but due to the rain, we finally got down by cable car.















Beside Mutianyu Great wall, Ming Tombs (CNY60) , they also bring us to the Olympic Stadium (Water Cube and Bird's net), Run-ZeJade Garden润泽玉苑, Silk Store天瑞华丝绸店 & Cloisonne factory景泰蓝. Which are EXTRA BINUSES!!!!........


The driver and the tour guide both are very friendly, we really enjoyed .

















Day 4 Itinerary
Early morning, we took bus (outside the hotel) @ CNY 1, get off at Temple of Heaven Garden, walk to Temple of Heaven 天坛 (entrance fee RMB35).




























At the end of journey, exit from East Entrance 东门, and take subway Line 2 (CNY2) get of at Yonghegong, also known as Lama Temple 雍和宫(Entrance fee CNY 25). From Lama Temple, we took subway back to Qianmen Station return to hotel.































At night, we did not go anywhere, we just shop around nearby hotel area, Dazhalan & Qianmen. Lots of things to see.......
Day 5 Itinerary

We took subway from Qianmen Station(前门) and interchange to line 4 at Xizhimen (西直门) and get off at Yuanmingyuan station, exit B to Yuanmingyuan 圆明园遗址公园 (Entrance CNY25).

We took the traffic boat crossed over the lake @ CNY20 and returned via tour car @CNY5.
We took bus outside Yuanmingyuan continue out journey to Summer Palace @ CNY1 and get off infornt of Summer Palace and had our lunch nearby outside Summer Palace 颐和园- CNY25 (Kunming Lake) Day 6 Itinerary We took subway from Qianmen and get of at Guloudajie (鼓楼大街), Walk out and turn right towards Drum Tower 鼓楼 & Bell Tower.

We took a Rickshaw @CNY 50 for 1/2 hour hutong tour. After the rickshaw, we cross over the road to Sichahai. We rent a bicycle @CNY10 and cycle around the lake- Hutong Sichahai, we had fun. At the end of journey, we took subway back to hotel.


Night scene of Sichahai is very beautiful. Try to arrange time so that you can enjoy bith dday and night scene.

In the evening, we took subway from Qianmen Station to Silk Market, get off at Yonganli station(永安里站)

Silk market秀水街 (business hour 5pm-10pm) is a multi-floor shopping complex. It is famous for fake branded. You must really bargain for things you want to buy.


Day 7 Itinerary
We took a taxi from hotel to South Train station and took the bullet train to Tianjin (CNY58)

Upon arrival at Tianjin Train Station, we took a taxi to Motel 168 (Nanjing/Hubei road).

Upon checked in, we took a taxi to Ancient Cultural Street 文化街.

We left AncientCulturalStreet @ 5pm and took a taxi proceed to Chifeng Dao 赤峰道.

Day 8 Itinerary

In the Morning, we took a taxi to Shibajie 十八街 , 狗不理店(Goubuli) for breakfast. We walk around to the wet market nearby before the shop open @ 10am. We went back to hotel and took a taxi to airport for our flight @ 3.35pm (CNY60).
